Variations & Substitutions

I love experimenting with different cheeses – pepper jack adds a nice kick, while Colby jack or Havarti create an extra creamy texture.

For the protein, you can swap the ham for crispy bacon, breakfast sausage patties, or even turkey slices. If you’re feeling fancy, try using croissants instead of Hawaiian rolls. The eggs can be made creamier by using half-and-half instead of milk.

Tips & Tricks for Perfect Results

The key to perfect sliders is keeping the eggs slightly undercooked when scrambling, as they’ll continue cooking in the oven.

I recommend keeping the eggs in larger pieces rather than small crumbles – this helps them stay put in the sandwiches.

When assembling, don’t pull the rolls apart; slice them as one unit. This makes assembly much easier and keeps everything neat.

Making the Recipe Stand Out

I sometimes add a touch of maple syrup to the butter mixture for a sweet-savory combo that’s absolutely incredible.

Consider adding a layer of caramelized onions between the ham and eggs, or sprinkle everything bagel seasoning on top instead of just poppy seeds. These little touches make a big difference!

Storage & Reheating

These sliders are perfect for make-ahead meals! You can assemble them up to 24 hours in advance – just keep the butter mixture separate until ready to bake.

For freezing, assemble completely (minus the butter topping), wrap tightly, and freeze for up to 3 months. When reheating, thaw overnight in the fridge, add the butter mixture, and bake as directed, adding 5-10 extra minutes.
