Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes.
Pat chicken pieces dry with paper towels — this is key for getting that gorgeous, slightly caramelized exterior.
Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and rub in the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
Place chicken skin-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook for 12 minutes.
Flip the chicken, brush generously with BBQ sauce, and cook for another 6–8 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
In the last 2 minutes, brush on one more layer of BBQ sauce for that sticky, glossy finish.
Rest for 5 minutes before serving.
