Zesty Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Wings
Lemon pepper wings have been a staple at my table for years, and the air fryer has completely changed how fast I can get them on the plate. These wings come out impossibly crispy on the outside, packed with bold citrus and savory pepper flavor in every single bite.
I make these for game nights, casual Friday dinners, and just because it’s been a long week and I deserve something delicious!

Variations & Substitutions
I love how easy it is to make these wings work for whatever you’ve got on hand. If you’re out of fresh lemons, bottled lemon juice works in a pinch, though fresh really does make a difference in flavor.
Swap olive oil for avocado oil if you prefer a higher smoke point option. Love heat? Add ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix.
You can also use this exact same seasoning blend on chicken thighs or drumsticks — just adjust the cook time to 25–28 minutes depending on size.

Tips & Tricks for Perfect Results
The number one tip I swear by is drying those wings thoroughly before seasoning. Moisture is the enemy of crispy skin! I also like to let the seasoned wings sit uncovered in the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking — this dries them out even further and lets the flavors really penetrate the meat.
Don’t stack wings in the basket; airflow is everything in an air fryer. If your wings aren’t as golden as you’d like after 22 minutes, crank it up to 400°F for an extra 2–3 minutes and watch closely.

Storage & Reheating
Store cooled wings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. When it comes to reheating, skip the microwave. It turns the gorgeous crispy skin into something sad and rubbery.
Instead, pop them back in the air fryer at 375°F for about 5–6 minutes and they’ll crisp right back up like they were freshly made. You can also freeze cooked wings in a zip-lock bag for up to 2 months and reheat straight from frozen at 380°F for 10–12 minutes.
Zesty Air Fryer Lemon Pepper Wings
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken wings split into flats and drumettes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp salt
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Pat wings dry — and I mean really dry. Use paper towels and press firmly. This is the single most important step for crispy skin, so don’t skip it!
- Season the wings — toss them in a large bowl with olive oil, lemon pepper seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and salt until every piece is fully coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Don’t overcrowd — cook in batches if needed.
- Air fry for 20–22 minutes, flipping halfway through at the 10-minute mark.
- Finish with fresh lemon — as soon as the wings come out, toss them with fresh lemon zest and lemon juice for that extra bright, punchy flavor.
- Garnish and serve with your favorite dipping sauce and a lemon wedge on the side.
